The Father’s Unreasonable Love

Have you ever felt that God’s love was too good to be true? That there was always a condition to fulfill? Let Katherine Ruonala share with you a powerful truth that revolutionized her life: God’s love is unconditional, His grace is infinite, and His power is available right now. Get ready to be amazed!

The Father’s Unconditional Love: Greater Than We Can Imagine

Jesus tells a story to describe God’s reaction when we return to Him: that of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32). This son returned, filled with shame, thinking he did not deserve to be a son again, hoping at most for a job as a servant. But the father, as soon as he saw him from afar, ran toward him with immense joy, embraced him tenderly, and covered him with affectionate kisses. He immediately asked for a beautiful ring, a magnificent robe, and elegant shoes for him.

This is how the Father thinks of you. For a long time, I believed that I had to be perfect to please Him. I was very good at repenting, which is a good thing, because repentance sets us free. But I spent most of my prayer time repenting for things I had already repented for. I had a hard time receiving God’s grace, even though the Bible tells us that we are “saved by grace through faith, and this is not from ourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). We must believe that He is far better than we think we deserve, that when we give Him our sin, He gives us His blessing.

I remember once when I was asked to write down what God was saying to me. For 15 minutes, I only had three words: “I love you”. I didn’t realize that those were the words I needed to hear most in the world. So I began to pray Ephesians 3:14-21 daily, personalizing it: Lord, I want to know this love that surpasses all knowledge. The Bible says that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). I had a lot of insecurity and deep fears. This prayer set me free and allowed me to understand the Father’s unconditional love, a love that says to you, “You are my son, you are my daughter, I am not ashamed of you. I am so glad you came back!

The Power of the Holy Spirit: Liberation and Healing

The Holy Spirit is our teacher and God with us. He is always ready to help us in our needs. I remember attending a prayer meeting when I had a lump on my wrist and persistent fears. At the end of the meeting, as I stepped forward, I was overcome by the presence of the Holy Spirit and fell to the ground, trembling. I saw the face of Jesus, who said, “Katherine, I am setting you free from everything”. I got up an hour later, feeling as if I were walking on air, totally delivered and set free. As for my lump, I had forgotten about it: it was only a few days later that I realized it had disappeared!

The following week, the pastor called on those who wanted to be freed from shame to come forward. Although I hesitated, because of the potential judgment of my in-laws, my deliverance the previous week had made me indifferent to what people would think, so I stepped forward. Then I had a vision where I saw myself as a little girl, my head on the Father’s lap, who was stroking my hair—a love I had never experienced from my parents. Then I saw an ugly face, like a mask, being “peeled off” my face, replaced by the vision of a woman walking in the heavens, clothed in dignity. The Lord said, “That is you!

The revelation of God’s love never stops; it is continuous and given through the supernatural. The Holy Spirit wants to speak to you and touch you. Jesus said, “Ask, and you will receive” (Matthew 7:7). I have seen incredible miracles with my own eyes. Recently, in France, a young girl who was blind in one eye due to laser damage instantly regained her sight. A woman who was completely deaf in one ear was healed the moment a word of knowledge was given. A man in Brazil with a brain tumor saw his tumor disappear and even the small hole in his skull (left under the skin by doctors for a second operation) close up. The Spirit of God is the same yesterday, today, and forever; His power is available to you!

Faith in Action: the Impossible Made Possible

Nothing is impossible for those who believe (Mark 9:23). I have witnessed this truth time and time again. I think of a newborn baby, Gabriella, who, just 30 minutes after birth, went into cardiac arrest and was without oxygen for more than four minutes. The doctors had no hope, expecting severe brain damage. I went to the hospital, and seeing this baby hooked up to all these life-support machines, I said, “Let’s take a picture; it will make a great sermon later!” Then we thanked God and declared His goodness. A few days later, Gabriella opened her eyes, and today she is a healthy and happy little girl!

I also think of James, an elder in our church, diagnosed with cancer of the intestine, lungs, and lymph nodes. The doctors gave him a few days to live. His wife called me. Seeing his miserable condition, I felt the gift of faith. We took a photo (“This will make a great sermon!”) and praised God for the healing. The next evening, at midnight, Jesus entered his hospital room. James had a seven-hour encounter with God. When he woke up at 7 a.m., he was completely healed.

You may ask yourself, “But why this illness?” or “How will God do it?” But I believe there is a better question: “Who are you, Lord? Who do you want to be for me in this situation?” He is the Healer! It’s not a lottery. God wants to assure you that He is the One who heals you. But you need to position yourself before Him, to make a decision. In the face of adversity, where would we go? As Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68) He is faithful! If you put your faith in Him, He will help you. He says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
