Are you carrying a burden that feels too heavy to bear? Perhaps a diagnosis, a mental chain, or a season of brokenness has left you feeling trapped. Let Daniel Chand (UK) tell you today that your story does not end with your circumstances. There is a “But God” moment waiting for you. Let’s explore how shifting your gaze to Jesus can activate a miracle in your life right now.
The scandalous mercy of a loving Father
I want to start by looking at two of the most powerful words in the entire Bible: “But God”. Whatever you are facing today—whether it is sickness, depression, or fear—anything that came before those two words no longer has the final say. What truly matters is what comes afterward. I am so encouraged because the Word tells us that God is rich in mercy. I want you to understand that God is not on a budget when it comes to His love; it is overflowing and abundant for you. You can come exactly as you are tonight, broken or in chains, and expect to be healed because of His great love.
Often, we struggle because we think the foundation of our relationship with God is our love for Him. But I want to remind you that the emphasis is actually on His love for you. He loves you with no strings attached and no hidden agenda. When you allow Him to love you first, a beautiful transformation occurs: your brokenness becomes healing, your darkness turns to light, and your sin is replaced by salvation. This is the heart of Jesus for you today. As Ephesians 2:4-5 says: “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ“.
I encourage you to stop looking at your own ability to love Him and start resting in His perfect love for you. As Romans 5:8 reminds us, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us“. You don’t have to be perfect to receive from Him; you simply need to be present and expectant for what the Holy Spirit wants to do in your life.
The radical rhythm of risk and rest
There is a profound difference between hope and faith that I believe we must grasp to see the miraculous move in our lives. Many of us live in a state of hope, which is always focused on the future—thinking that “one day” God might do something. But faith is “now”. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. If you are in faith, you aren’t just waiting; you are preparing. For example, if you are believing for a new car, you don’t just talk about it; you start cleaning out your garage to make room for it.
True faith involves both risk and rest. It is a risk because it requires us to step out of the boat, like Peter, and do something we’ve never done before. It might mean being willing to look like a “fool for Christ” to see His glory manifested. However, faith is also a deep rest. It isn’t like the world’s way of “crossing your fingers”; it is a relational trust in a God who cannot lie. We can rest because Jesus has already finished the work on the cross. You can only truly rest on something that is completed.
I want to challenge you to act on the Word of God the same way you act on the word of a weather reporter. When they say it will snow, you grab your hat and gloves without hesitation. How much more should we act on the unshakeable Word of our Creator? Let us be like the heroes in Hebrews 11 who moved by faith, knowing that He is the author and finisher of our journey. Mark 16:20 tells us that “as they went out and preached, the Lord worked with them and confirmed the Word through accompanying signs“. When we risk and rest in His promises, the miraculous follows.
The power of the divine exchange
Finally, I want you to see that your breakthrough is not a “thing”—it is a Person, and His name is Jesus. Many people look for the hand of God, but I am asking you to look for His face. When Jesus becomes everything to you, He satisfies every desire of your heart. He is the Healer who doesn’t just want to give you a miracle; He wants to be your life. Through what I call the “Divine Exchange,” Jesus took everything we deserved so that we could receive everything He earned.
On the cross, Jesus was forsaken so that you would never have to be. He was struck and bruised, His back torn open by stripes, so that you could walk in divine health. The prophet Isaiah declared, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (53,5). Notice that the apostle Peter later wrote that by His stripes you were already healed. This means your healing is a present reality, not just a future possibility.
Jesus didn’t just come to be a “ticket to heaven” or a “spare tire” for emergencies; He is the King of Glory who has already defeated every sickness and demonic oppression. Whether you are facing physical pain or mental torment, remember that God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Stop looking at your symptoms and start looking at the finished work of Calvary. Everything you need has already been paid for: you are moving from a position of victory, not fighting for it!
